Sand filter systems for efficient water treatment

Compact, wired ready for connection, automatic: Turbidities in the cooling water will become a problem sooner or later. Sand as a filter medium is a proven means to contain fouling.

The principle of the sand filter system

The core piece of the sand filter system is a container filled with sand. The cooling water flows through this container, the individual grains will bind and retain the particles.
Once the capacity of the filter is used it must be cleaned. Counter current flow is used here. Backwashing will loosen the particles retained such that these will run off through the effluents. Thus, the force of the water will clean the filter sand filling which will then be absorptive once again.

Reliable filtration

Our sand filter systems work in Automatic mode. For best results, the container may be pressurized with air. This will facilitate even better cleaning.

Sand filter systems of different materials

The intended use is the decisive factor. IKS supplies and delivers sand filter systems made of steel, stainless steel or glass-fiber reinforced plastics material. The size of the system to be used for your cooling water circuit will be a function of the polluting load and the volumetric flow rate to be cleaned. The system will be managed or monitored respectively by a SIEMENS S7-1200 control system.
